Obviously The Leg Chair has been chillin' for a bit. I'm angling for a return at some point but in the meantime, sit tight. Tending to some other projects but this should get some attention soon.

Red Eye Review January 29

A Block

Guests

1)S.E. Cupp - that weird sailor shirt returns, not sure what to think of the haircut either

2)Remi Spencer - I'll reserve comment, just see the pic

3)Bill Schulz

4)Bill Whittle - one of my favorite writers, his rhetoric is rarely realized on Red Eye, sadly

Aaaaaaand Pinch

Topic:Genghis Khan was good for the planet because he killed a ton of people

Whittle "the climate is constantly changing"

S.E. "genocide is Mother Nature's swiffer"

Greg compliments Remi's dress. Yes. "what did I do to deserve this tonight?" are Remi's first words

Greg "its hard to listen to you (Remi) right now"

Bill Schulz "he was as much a uniter of divided villages as divider of appendages" smart, smart, this is what we like to hear from Bill

Whittle "Genghis Khan achieved worldwide political power and then affected the climate. These guys (enviromentalists etc.) want to use climate change in order to get worldwide power" Bingo! - Ed.

Topic: Washington University St. Louis cancels Bristol Palin speech on abstinence

Greg "why do liberals always try and stop speakers, and why do they only go after harmless people, not Achmedinejad?"

S.E. puts on the contrarian hat and notes her $17,000 speaking fee and having gained this position by "accident"

Whittle "any time you get a conservative with something to say you run him into the wedge, the wedge is either you're evil or you're stupid"

Greg thinks there's a "wave of hate" to women politicians and figures who are "morally different" and not liberal. Note S.E.'s sorta catty digs about Bristol moments earlier that Greg didn't single out.

The conversation then breaks down into Whittle's dig at Schulz being paid in subway tokens when it now operates on flip cards. I only recently could have known that having finally made it to New York City several months back. The rest of America watches this and just blinks their eyes unknowingly. That city is so different from the rest of America yet sets the cultural tone. A topic for another day.

Topic: Greg-alogue with Danny Glover blaming violence for the Tucson shootings while promoting a movie about Black Power and its accompanying violence

Chyron "if you disagree with me, then you sir caused Tucson" that is, the new way to stifle debate

Whittle "this is called prepping the battle space" brings up blaming every act of violence on rightwingers (discovery channel shooter, White House shooter, etc.) so that when anything happens people start to actually believe this. Where is Congressman Cohen to rail about the left's propagandizing here? Exactly - Ed.

Remi defends Tea Partyers as having philosophies soundly rooted and logical

S.E. "who keeps asking him (Danny Glover) questions? I blame us!"

Schulz punted on going into a rant I thought he was going to launch. I love balance but he would have had nothing but silly things to say here.

Fox News Alert on the Cairo protests has cut into Red Eye!

Halftime Report with Andy Levy

Andy cracks on Bill Maher's youthful dating approach

Naughty moment. In speaking about Washington University in St. Louis, Andy notes that is where Sarah Palin debated Joe Biden. Greg says "I guess its come full circle then" to which Bill interjects from the background "you guys are full circle ... jerks" to immediate laughter from someone further in the background.

It should be noted S.E. for the second time says "I like her message"

Andy's pressing S.E. and Remi's statements about Bristol. They're both on their heels a bit here. They seem to be questioning the kind of money Bristol has commanded to which Andy just said "so what". I agree - Ed.

Andy "was anyone involved in Lethal Weapon not insane?" LOL - Ed.

Now they're talking about stuff that was in the B Block that was cut off. I'm completely lost.

Topic: Drawing of Greg's appendix nets $2001 from a viewer to go to charity

D Block

Topic: Time Magazine cover titled Why Obama (Heart) Reagan headlines the lightning round

Remi wants to link her birthday to Reagan's. Happy birthday in advance, Ms. Spencer.

Whittle's calling this liberal desperation. Eh. Its stupid but he's guilty of a bit of overreach here.

The camera and chyron are doing funny things here when S.E. speaks.

Topic: Something about feminine male models.

Whittle "elimination of masculine ideal" meanwhile in culture, the popular guys are the ones who are macho (Tony Soprano, etc.)

E Block

Topic: Gil Meche, MLB player, retires saying he doesn't deserve $12 million contract

Remi makes the obvious point, its easier to make that decision once you've already made a ton of money

Heh, Bill makes an amusing strained parallel between Meche and LeBron James

Whittle "I love the guy" "get the guy in Congress as quick as possible"

S.E.'s displeased "who turns down $12 million dollars" and notes in his interview he wants to relive his childhood in Louisiana "mental breakdown"

F Block

Post-game Wrapup with Andy Levy

S.E.'s new boss is Glenn Beck/Mercury Radio

Post Mortem

Three Stars: Bill Whittle - one of his best appearances, at least that I've seen. He's at his best when he's wearing his strident Big American, Big Conservative hat

Two Stars: Andy Levy - Excellent halftime reset. Was able to put on the serious hat on a friendly set of guests who had set a amiable tone without rocking the boat. That takes talent.

One Star: Remi Spencer - 1)That dress ... 2)Happy Birthday!

Red Eye Review January 28

A Block

Greg Gutfeld's rocking pinstripes

Guests

1)Brooke Goldstein -- hmmm

2)Joe DeVito

3)Bill Schulz

4)Mike Huckabee

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand Pinch

Topic: Greg-alogue. The Oscars honorees are too white/not diverse. "All people want the same things, movies that tell great stories, color be damned"

Aside: every time I see Huckabee on Red Eye, I think, hey, interesting guy, not really getting the Presidential vibe. Not sure if I'd think that way about the other Republican candidates. Maybe Red Eye needs to bring more on (Romney? Christie?).

Greg: America elected Barack Obama, the first African American President, America can see beyond color, but the media can't.

DeVito "I think the Academy's problem is that it thinks great movies require British accents" heh he also took a dig at Sarah Jessica Parker as the Kentucky Derby Winner. I hope for his soul that he only makes that crack because she foisted Sex and the City onto the American population.

Greg didn't like The King's Speech.

JEFF FROM TALLAHASSEE video. He had a falling out with his butcher. Brooke's laughing. What is with those videos that the female guest is always amused and the males just shrug?

Topic: Ohio mom fibs about residency to get her kids into a better school

She totally broke the law, was rightly prosecuted, but there's something very admirable about it

Huckabee "this is like the DREAM act, in reverse gear" Greg "that is genius!"

Greg's really upset about her mug shot.

Vouchers/school choice, Greg and Huck wait several minutes to finally state the obvious. One size fits all/cookie cutter education is obviously troubling.

Topic: they're reading weird news stories in front of Huckabee, what better way to derail possible Presidential aspirations?

Huckabee "I don't want to touch that one. Or Snooki"

B Block

Topic: They're beating the dead horse about this Skins show as viewers and advertisers abandon it

Huckabee "its an insult to all the decent teenagers" that MTV says this is all that kids do

Brooke draws the convo to a free program that reveres suicide bombing. Super scary.

DeVito "I don't care if they're having sex. I don't care if they're doing drugs. Just stay off my lawn"

Bill "the show is boring" "its a bad Calvin Klein ad"

C Block

Half-time Report with Andy Levy!

Andy took a shot at Franz Ferdinand, and Sex And The City II not getting nominated "given the popularity of zombie movies these days" LOL! - Ed.

Holy crap Andy says the NAACP says there should be a Rooney Rule for the Oscars? Really? Thats fake, no?

Topic: Greg's appendix auction continues ... $1,111 is the highest bid at this point

D Block

Topic: Meghan McCain bashes Michelle Bachmann's post State of the Union speech

Raw hate, kiiiinda disappointed. Greg "I never see her go after guys" McCain does seem to target other women politicians on the right a lot

Huckabee notes Bachmann has a law degree and is an intelligent person and is accomplished

Greg notes this isn't just a Bachmann phenomenon, women do this to each other for whatever reason

Topic: Over-the-top Tim Pawlenty promotional video ahead of a potential Presidential run

Huckabee seemed to enjoy it

DeVito "I didn't even know Tim Pawlenty was a video game"

Brooke signs off on the video as well, inspiring, patriotic. I'm a sucker for that stuff too but I think it was a bit cheesy

E Block

Topic: Dennis Kucinich sues for $150,000 over olive pit in sandwich

Meh

One Star: Joe DeVito -- Usually one to two funny (prepared) lines every block

Red Eye Review January 27

A Block

Guests

1)Imogen Lloyd Webber -- looking amazing in purple, arm sling and all

2)Larry Gatlin

3)Bill Schulz

4)Bill Kristol

Aaaaand Pinch.

Topic: Greg-alogue about the State of the Union speech. Gret felt the President was straining to convince us (himself?) that America is great. "It was a fiery eh"

Greg "Boehner's just back there thinking about cigarettes"

"Confidence is backed by an innate trust" that things will be better.

Kristol "it was an attempt to go to the center"

Greg "my golden rule, good hair good leader, bad hair bad leader" Imogen counters with Thatcher. Ahh, Brits.

Greg "Nobody does really good State of the Union addresses anymore"

Imogen "I lost my State of the Union virginity last night"

Bill takes the purple (red + blue) ties to task, Greg wasn't listening

Kristil "what is the obsession with trains?" THANK YOU - Ed.

Topic: Kids warm about climate change in "1SKY" video

Yeh this is pathetic using kids as props for the cause. End of story.

Greg citse a line from the video -- "The senate took a powder? there's no way a kid knows what that means"

Greg "you don't hear about climate change anymore" Yep. I remember the last big climate push, that stuff took over seemingly first through third grade. This is cyclical.

LOL Bill conjures up Captain Planet. I remember that too. Stupidly dogmatic cartoon.

B Block

Topic: Teachers unions gave $13 million to advocacy groups

C Block

The Half-time Report with Andy Levy

Meh, Greg and Andy get into yet another "Tranny" play-on-words discussion. Not clever.

Andy "watching the backdrop to the State of the Union were you as amazed as I was that black, white and orange could come together?" (re: Obama, Biden and Boehner -- well played).

Andy doesn't "see the problem with children to spew crap" I'm with Greg, this is shameful. "those kids are jerks" "its a cowards way out of debate"

Bill has a nice counter about using kids to support the war on drugs. Touche!

Workplace humor about the show not knowing anything said about them in the rest of the building they're so low on the totem pole

Topic: Viewer offers $550 for the drawing of Greg's appendix and says Andy's turtleneck the previous episode was "feminine" LOL - Ed.

D Block

Lightning round! Topic: No duh of the day. Here's the headline "research: sexy news anchors distract male viewers"

LOL Gatlin "of course you get distracted and forget things when beautiful women say things. Like your marriage"

Topic: Arizona restaurant scotches "lion tacos" from menu after receiving threats. Did I call this or did I call this? - Ed.

Larry goes after British cuisine after Imogen redirects the discussion to the UK's ban of haggis.

Topic: New York lawmaker wants to ban texting & walking.

E Block

Leads off with video of the latest robotic ketchup machine. The inventor has improved it! And you probably have no idea what we're talking about.

"Red Eye Where Are They Now" about the video of the one big cat attacking the kitten.

This block was complete filler.

F Block

Post-game Wrapup with Andy Levy

Nothing of import.

Post Mortem

Three Stars: Bill Schulz -- Captain Planet reference and the crackback about kids as props vs. the war on drugs won the day

Two Stars: Andy Levy -- The black/white/orange joke ... well played

One Star: Imogen Lloyd Webber -- Greg probably deserved this but I was transfixed just watching her confused look the entire show. Hot, and confused. Aside, she looks different this year, prettier than she already was.
